Babehoven

Maya Bon has shown herself to be a gifted heart-on-sleeve songwriter, using music to peel back the layers of her own experiences—sometimes sad, sometimes surreal, always vividly rendered—to reveal universal emotional truths hidden in the most intimately personal of details. On Babehoven’s new EP, Sunk, Bon seeks to answer a seemingly simple yet ultimately life changing question: what would happen if, rather than constantly fighting against the immovable tides of unfixable things—broken relationships, a fractured society, a future that erodes daily in the face of climate change—she gave herself permission to stop struggling altogether. What beauty might life attain if the choice to give up—to become “sunk”—was reframed as an act of self-care rather than one of defeat? “Sinking can be a form of self acceptance, allowing oneself to let go of the narrative that we have to keep treading water in order to succeed—there are ways to move on from the parts of ourselves and our lives that feel unmanageably difficult and hopeless,” says Bon of the EP’s title.

Field Guides

"Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Benedict Kupstas heads up indie outfit Field Guides. Backed by a rotating cast of collaborators, Kupstas has crafted a densely layered and literate style, one that contains genre-bending multitudes. He first debuted in 2014 with his first record, Boo, Forever, and followed in 2019 with This Is Just A Place. This summer, he’s set to return with another record, Ginkgo, featuring contributions from members of The War On Drugs, Adeline Hotel, Public Practice, and Stars Like Fleas."—Under The Radar

Sailor Down

Having spent the last few years recording in her bedroom tinkering with alternate guitar tunings in addition to playing in bands with friends, Chloe Deeley finally makes her solo debut as Sailor Down with the stunning 6 song EP Skip The Line. The 26 year old Northampton, MA native who also splits artistic output as a prolific illustrator as seen in the accompanying artwork, was raised along the coast of Massachusetts and comes from a family of boat captains so when choosing a moniker for the project it felt only natural to turn nautical. To capture the intimacy and immediacy of her first recorded collection, Chloe decided to retreat to a friend’s isolated cabin in southern Maine. The spare but impactful uses of vintage casio keyboards, synthesizers, and drum programming help round out the material but the main vessel alongside a delicately plucked guitar is Deeley's Elliott Smith-esque double tracked vocals. Even with poignant lines like “Does time still heal if you waste it?” or “I could use an all-nighter, I miss you talking over me” it's easy to forget how sad the songs are when the melodies are so captivating.
