Birthday Ass is a rock sextet featuring Priya Carlberg; voice, Alex Quinn; trumpet, Raef Sengupta; saxophone, Andres Abenante; guitar, Dan Raney; bass and Jonathan Starks; drums. The ensemble creates unexpected and multifaceted rock songs. The method and mastery behind Birthday Ass are as astute (pun intended) as can be, but the music that results overflows with an infectious, unfiltered vitality. Their sophomore album Head of the Household is as flamboyant and celebratory of a romp as you’d expect from a band called Birthday Ass and is just as strong and assured as the title would suggest. It is an example of virtuosity that shuns pretension and revels in the delight of creativity, and a collection of exhilarating, masterfully crafted tunes expressed with effortless joy.

The Leafies are a 10 piece band from the not-so-happy valley of Western, MA. An eclectic array of genres covering everything from pop to free jazz to hardcore. Stage shows have been referred to as “Broadway On Acid.” A series of interconnected stories create a unified experience dealing with topics such as organized religion, anxiety disorders, gender roles, castrati, and a little romance.
