Madeline Goldstein, front person of Portland’s infamous and long-running synth pop outfit Fringe Class, breaks though the noise with their new and highly anticipated solo project (self titled). Founded after relocating to LA in 2019, Madeline has now self released a full length album (Forget This, 2020) and their more recent single, Lost In Heaven, showcasing their ethereal dream-pop presence and ever-evolving home production skills. With emotion and a strong ear for pop melody, Madeline Goldstein echos the energies of new wave, dream-pop, and show gaze, all while showcasing the vocal range and passion of femme pop icons. Their much anticipated new single “One More Day”, teased in demos and home-made lofi visuals online, has since been released alongside a music video.
"Madeline Goldstein has a sound that bridges the icy froideur of European dark electronica and the dreamier tones of its American West Coast contemporaries" - Analogue Trash, 2022
“One More Day” is a sleek slice of mid-tempo synth pop. Goldstein’s lush melodies strike the perfect balance between dream-like passion and driving electronic pleasure. The track continues to build into a powerful, layered climax, Goldstein pouring their heart into a deeply sincere vocal performance. Shades of both Madonna’s best eighties ballads as well as Chris and Cosey’s most romantic, yet detached singles can be heard throughout the track, complimented with a subtle, but welcome touch of dream pop bliss." - Post-Punk.com, 2022
PREGNANT ( Sacramento)
Pregnant is the decade-long experimental venture of avant-garde electronic pop alchemist Daniel Trudeau. Spawning from Placerville, California, the band is fronted by Trudeau with added instruments and vocals by a rotating cast of friends. The dreamy, complicated sound is perfectly pieced from a tangling array of samplers, drum pads, effects pedals, MIDI-loops, guitars, and synths. Submerge Magazine explains, “As a live act, the trio become a kind of living sound exhibit…reproduced seemingly out of thin air, filling the corners of any living room, stage venue, or theater with music that’s as much visual as aural.”
Dutch Experts (Brattleboro, VT)
Combines classic 80s new wave and shoe gaze sensibility with a modern twist. Drawing on inspiration from the Cure, Cocteau Twins, and Kate Bush, singer-songwriter Hannah Hoffman’s commanding vocals and undulating synth are driven by chorus-laden bass lines, paying homage to an aesthetic gone by. Their first EP, recorded and mixed by Mikey Allred of Dark Art Audio (All Them Witches, Inter Arma, Barishi), is slated to be released in 2022.
